The Nottingham Lions take on Hull Stingrays on Sunday evening (16th September) in their first home game of their 2012/13 NIHL campaign.
The Lions have had an equal measure of rest and hard work since their 7-4 victory at Fylde Flyers two weeks ago and will be keen to claim their second win of the season against a Hull side who triumphed over Blackburn Eagles by a 3-1 scoreline last weekend.
Lions’ new American import Luke Branin will make his debut along with Panthers two-way deal signing Josh Ward. Elliot Perrin has recovered from his injury which saw him leave the ice against Fylde whilst winger Michael Rose will be eager to get one over on his former club.
But the news that has all the tongues wagging around the city is that Panthers’ legend, the ‘Pocket Battleship’ himself, Simon Hunt will return to senior hockey after an absence of twelve years and will once again don his #13 jersey.
He may now be 39 years-old but from what we’ve seen in training over the past few weeks, he looks as fit as ever and anyone who wants to come down and see the man in action should be in for a real treat!
Face off at the National Ice Centre is at 7.15pm. Tickets are available from the NIC Box Office which opens at 6.45pm.
Don’t forget that Panthers season ticket holders can gain discount entry to all Lions home games and all fans are encouraged to head over to the Capital One rink after the Belfast game to cheer on the boys.
So come on down and join the Lions’ Roar!
