The Nottingham Lions are pleased to announce 18 year-old defenceman Sam Adcock, as the latest addition to their 2014/15 roster.

The young D-man is among final pieces of the Lions' squad to fall into place and has had four years within the Nottingham junior system and also spent a season with the Sheffield Steelheads Under 18s in 2013/14.
Sam will easily slot alongside some familiar faces within the Nottingham locker room and stake his claim to a spot on the blue line for his first senior season, whilst also having plenty of opportunities in the 34 game campaign, to learn from his more experienced defensive partners.
The youngster spoke to nottinghamlions.co.uk this week about returning to the National Ice Centre:
"I'm looking forward to coming back to my original club and playing at a higher level, whilst having the great support of the fans - I also look forward to and playing alongside Sam Illsley, Connor Glossop and Daniel Hazeldine, who I played with at junior level." said Adcock.
He went on to add: "The biggest challenge for this season will be the speed of the game - moving from junior hockey and going straight into senior hockey at this elevated level will be tough but as long as I try my best it shouldn't be too hard."
Talking of his latest defenceman to make the jump to senior hockey, Head coach Matt Bradbury said:
"We welcome Sam, who's another young product of the Nottingham system after a season away in Sheffield under 18s - he still has a lot to learn but it's exciting for the coaches to work with a young talent like Sam who is hungry for an opportunity and success."
"Sam was always a very skilled player that skated well and what he lacks in size he makes up for in heart and passion for the game - over the next few years Sam should fit in nicely, he just needs to keep working hard and push himself every time he steps into the ice." added Bradbury.
Adcock will be ready to make the trip to Blackburn to face the Eagles for the season opener, on the 6th September at 5:45pm, whilst on the 14th September (7:30pm) the blue liner will be in contention to face Sheffield Senators, at the National Ice Centre.
