The Nottingham Lions face one of their toughest tests of the season so far this Sunday as they prepare take on local rivals Solihull Barons at Solihull Ice Rink.

Just two points separate the teams going into their first meeting of the season, which is sure to be a feisty encounter as both sides will be battling it out for two points, which could be crucial in the race for promotion come March.

Lions captain Luke Thomas will be taking on his former club for the first time since leaving the Barons in the summer.

The Lions will be buoyed by their 12-0 demolition of Fylde Flyers at the National Ice Centre last weekend whilst the Barons are on a run of five straight wins, helped along by the last month’s acquisition of forward Joe Henry from Telford Tigers.

Home advantage was key for both sides in their four meetings last season with Solihull twice winning by the odd goal in the West Midlands, whilst Nottingham came out on top at the NIC with two 6-2 victories.

Face off at Hobs Moat Road is 6pm and if you cannot make it along to roar on the boys you can keep up to date with all the action as it happens by following our live Twitter feed from 5.30pm on Sunday evening.
